Id suggest just getting some really heavy duty cable saddles or making some up yourself. The elects run some at work and we recently had a private pole fall down and the saddles were holding the pole just off the ground

I want to move my battery, right to left, and also behind the drivers seat. Maybe behind the cab even. So, I have everything, big cables, ends fitted, bulkhead fittings, but, I am undecided as to how or rather where to run the cables. Do I run them inside the cab, and out the firewall, or straight down and along the chassis. I can see merit in both, just want opinions as I am undecided. Im leaning toward straight down, whats the thoughts ??? |

inside is a lot safer, harder to jam on a branch or rock Having said that, the winch thing has em (all 3 sets) running underneath along the tunnel and hasnt snagged one yet |

I respect Royces views, but it seems more straight forward to go straight down, ok, longer cables, but with the size cables I have, I do not think any drama, even if I put the battery at the very back of the car. Which I wish I could do, far better weight transfer. As Scrawn says, if tucked in nicely, when will they become a snag ? |

My battery its under the passenger seat with my cables running behind the dash and along the outer edge of the passenger footwell. They are exposed to the passenger's feet, but 5 years on and they still show no signs of wear and tear. Having them in the cab at least makes them easy to inspect. But under floor would be neater. |

I still don't see the issue with it underneath if it's routed properly. If you have a body lift it could even sit on top of the chassis rail. I see more potential for chaffing in the cab from boots or other stuff floating around, especially in a cramped Sierra. It would also get ignored cos it's deemed 'safe'. JMO

I've done a few battery relocations. On my car, the cables run inside the car along the trans tunnel inside the car. On the others I've done, I've run the cables under the car, but along the underside of the trans tunnel. Well up and out of the way. I don't see any big difference in safety either way, but inside the car is messier. Steve. |
