I would like to know what the best place would be to hook up the trigger for a relay when the ignition is in the 'on' position?

Are you running a switch in cab as well? Just pick it up from anything that has power when ignition is on. Use a test light and find a wire under the d ash. That's how I run my gauge lights.

A. I don't have a test light. B. why would I spend 30 mins wriggling around under the dash when someone on here can probably tell me?

Run a thematic switch & a over ride switch in the cab, so it can't cut in when in water......

Use a cross over relay and a warning light that comes on when fan is switched off. This way you will have a reminder to switch back on again.
