I have used the search in this forum and also searched on google.. I cant seem to find a good location to mount recovery points on the my SWB Vitara. Where is the best/safest place?? I dont trust ARB.. They put 2 on my dads Cruiser and one came off 2nd time we have snatched from it... (only been on for 3 weeks) Flew at the other car and tore a 35" tyre to shreads... So any help will be greatful Cheers, Sam |

If you were happy to have some cutting and welding done by someone who knows what they are doing, you could get what you want. Recovery points can be mighty dangerous if done wrong. I would have thought the ARB bar would have some decent points.... |

The points where good. The bolts they used were crap... The bolts sheared which made the point fly .. Yeah I still need points |

I am going to have to wait for a bull bar and then design some on that. Most likely will be making my own bar unless I can find a cheap ARB one. I couldn't really see anywhere decent without the bar unfortunately... |

for the front: i was told the get 2 bits of flat bar and weld them to the front opening of the chassis, weld them so it acts like a sandwich with the chassis in the middle obviously. then drill 2 holes through all three pieces (bar-chassis-bar), then fit the recovery point and use the holes for the bolts.....could weld the nuts on the inside of the chassis. rear- use threaded chassis holes for the tow bar with high tensile bolts. |

My front recovery hook is bolted to the steel bracket that attachs to the chassis on the bullbar, The rear, I have a towbar that I put a rated D shackle through the hole that the tow ball slips into. Of course never put the snatch strap over the tow ball. |

I have a welded recovery point on the chassis near the bull bar but it looks dodgy and i wouldnt want to snatch off a weld.. |
