Hey guys, tried removing the gearbox this arvo to replace the clutch on my sierra...thought it would be an easier job than my old 4runner. How do you guys go about removing the start motor? Any other tips for removing the gearbox appreciated!

Starter is best removed from underneath the car and ya need to remove the shifter and jack shaft. Also rotate the box as it comes out.

I'm near on 6'5" tall and my hands arn't exactly small but I've always removed and refitted starters from the top.

If it is a 1.3 cut 7-8mm off the front edge of the gearbox mount on th chassis. Gives enough room to drop bellhousing past pressure plate.
I did this just yesterday (in the rain) on a NT tintop.
