Hi guys, My clutch is getting towards the end of it's long life, and I'm looking at my options for replacing it. I'm looking to do the job once and forget about it (until someday I can't resist the big-wheel itch, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it) so am looking for your thoughts. I've been checking out eBay because you can normally source most things you can find on manufacturers websites on eBay for cheaper, but I don't often shop for clutches so deciding what is a reputable clutch manufacturer and what is cheap rubbish is tricky. A "Heavy Duty" Clutch sounds like the way to go, but is that just one of those tags that manufacturers add to their products to sell, or is there an actual difference? A Harder compound? Why it's pink I have no idea, but that's not my main concern, but the price seems decent. Also since I'm no mechanic I'd have to get it shop-fitted. I know there's a fair bit of work involved and lots to pull off, but can someone tell me what actually gets done (flywheel gets machined or something?) and how much it's likely to cost? Most people are against heavy duty clutches as there isn't a need for the, and it becomes a pain to drive because the peddle is so heavy |

That's not true mate....not everyone is against HD clutches Have you actually driven one with a HD clutch?! I have HD clutches in both my tin top and my LWB and they are LIGHTER than the original pedal and easier to drive Have a look at this thread viewtopic.php?f=5&t=33295&hilit=exedy Each to their own but IMO i would be getting the HD clutch |

i've got a jimny clutch in mine (from a wreck with 15,000km on it)... theyre the same pressure as a HD clutch, and my pedal is light as but still has feeling in it - i like it. |

Ive used exedy stock replacement. Only time it slipped is in mud with 4wd, or dropping the clutch onroad in 1st at revs in 2wd, but rear is welded. 1.6efi, Reduction gears and 33's No need for a heavy duty for more $ Make sure your cable is in good condition. Stronger pressure plate will put more force to the pedal, more force on the cable when pressing the clutch. Heard a few cables have broken on here. Jims clutch system are fully hydraulic, So they could be a stronger pressure plate My new one is a Petroworks from lowrange offroad. See how that goes..stronger looking pressure plate, Half brass, half fibre disc. Good reviews. Its going to be pushing a much heavier sierra though. |

I fitted a clutch kit to an NT tintop 1.3 yesterday. Exedy standard duty. Clutch plate, pressure plate, throwout bearing, spigot bearing AND flywheel machine at the clutch shop while I waited ... $145.00  Brookers Brake & Clutch Maroochydore.. 07 54439305 Only a small shop but everytime I've asked for something they have had it on the shelf. |
