what vehicle? your profile doesnt say. but regardless, time to whip out the multimeter, put it at the motor, trigger the switch and see if you get 12vdc (you obviously wont, or itd be working), then do same at switch to make sure you have 12vdc supply at the switch, then trace your way until you find where the power is/isnt, then youve found your break. or you may have a limit switch somewhere preventing things. dunno |

Hey guys just a side question. I dunno if the soft top doors are different, but how do you get the trim off a 95 JLX estate? |

First - on the direct wiring thing - recheck your connections - if you can wind the window down using the driver's side switch, the motor is probably good, and applying power directly to the window should also make it go down - there will be two wires to the motor, apply power one way it goes down, the other way it goes up - it's possible to have a defective motor, either worn brushes or a defective commutator/winding so it works intermittently, but that will affect both up & down. Second - check the passenger side switch - the switches are cross wired to prevent a short circuit when one switch is set up & the other set down - both switches need to work in up/off/down positions for the window to work properly - a defective passenger side switch can cause the driver's side switch not to work, and vice versa. |
