Post subject:  warn free wheeling hubs

was talking too a mate that im goin chromos..... and hewas sayin that for his jeep you can get a warn hub that has a sleeve in there that breaks as the weak point instead of cvs etc....then you just buy this part in the hub that is the weak spot....

can you get these for zooks? are they worth it? anyone tryed them?

They aren't sleeves, they are dowels.

I'm not sure that warn hubs for sierras have dowels. And if they do, you'd still need to drill the holes in the hub for the dowels to locate.

But.... this could be done with OEM hubs too.

Isn't the weak spot on CroMo Sierra CVs the groove cut in the short side next to the spline at the diff end, for this very reason? Then you replace the shaft - not the shafts and CV.

Also, if it was a Jeep Wrangler - they have uni-joints instead of CVs...

OEM hubs what are they?

and reubs it was a wrangler we know they dont have cvs....now i read what i wrote it does sould like we where sayin they did!haha

more just saying they break something easy instead of something internal!

OEM= Original Equipment Manufacturer i.e. standard hubs.

Don't even bother thinking about it, just use it and if the bolts break put stronger ones in.

Hub fuses used to be available for Sierras,
but I never saw anyone using them.
They were dear, and had to save a lot of cv's to pay for themselves.

Changing a cv becomes easy with practise anyway :)

OEM as already stated are supposed to be sourced from the original manufacturer but in reality can be just copies from our friendly Chinese factories.
