Hi all, new to the forum.

Have fitted my 92 Vit SWB with OME 2" lift. Now looking at tyres, love to hear from anyone who has fitted 16" wheels to a similar vehicle and what problems they have experienced, eg: Power loss. Have considered a body lift but if anything looks too radical in WA the cops wont leave you alone.

Hi Keef,

Wheels aren't really the issue diameter-wise. Depends how big you want to go, but 15x8" steel wheels are easily available, and that'll get you right up into 31" tyre territory easily (which will require a body lift or some drastic panel work to fit anyway.)

The only reason I know of to go to 16s would be to clear calipers if you upgrade the brakes like I did. Tyre options are fewer, especially around here in nice Zook sizes.

As for tyres, you can run up to about a 235/75 with the lift you have and not have too many issues. Power will suffer a bit, but the trade-off is that cruising at freeway speeds is a little more relaxed. Once you get into 30-31 territory and beyond you really need gearing to make it work, plus bodylift (see above).

I was running 235/75/15's AT 771 maxxis tyres with stock everything else, no rubbing at all, but didnt really do any 4x4ing other then hill climbs in it
on road that are fine, i couldnt feel much difference at all

But i found in some hill climbs i had to go 1st all the way... i dunno if this is normal, everyother car i have driven can go up these hills in 2nd,

At the moment i have the Commo/King springs set up (2"lift) Went for a drive with the crew last weekend and found no issues with rubbing without bump stops

Really depends on how bigger tyres/what you want to do with your car,
With whats done on my car, i happly use it as a daily driver

Im upgrading to 3" calmini lift, 2" body lift, 31" MT tyres, but i dont think ill use this as my daily driver after these things are done..
