Not worth it for a 1.6 injected vit already.

Id look into a J20 or H20/25/27

Not sure where you are getting your figures from but they are wrong. J20A vits have ~96kw (ie. 130hp).

Pretty sure no 4A-GE came close to that, checking wiki shows even the highest output 'red top' version only had 94kw.

Either way, considering a healthy G16B is meant to put out mid 70kw I don't think it'd be worth the effort. If you are going to the trouble of an engine conversion may as well do it properly and go with a H25A or similar.

If the stock motor is healthy just throw on some extractors/exhaust and enjoy thashing it?

EDIT: 20 valve 4A-GE does put out those figures and more, but still don't think its worth it unless the current engine is toast. Bet the price of 20 valves is through the roof also.

I wouldn't bother, They might have the HP, but 4AGs are not very torquey, they make most of their power after 5000 revs, not exactly what you want for 4x4ing.
The 20 valves are even less flexible down low in the revs, and they feel really lethargic down low, even in a corolla.

Thanks for the info,

How easy are the H25A or the J20A's to install??

Torque and power band low in the rev range is what you want for offroad, A G16b would be a realitivly straight swap in your Vit, or as other's have suggested the J20.

The 4AGE in my craparolla starts moving at 3500rpm, down low, it's shite.

The low down tourqe in my 4age corolla is a lot better than my m18 in my jimmy anyday but for ease of transplant keep it Suzuki
