I have now stripped a front diff/axle housing to nothing.
Just looking at king pin bearings.
I was expecting ( never done king pin bearings before!) to be able to remove the outer race to the bearing.
They are wide track Diffs, the issue is the race, or lack of it. The bearing just sits in the taper?
Obviously which must get machined if damaged?
If there is a race there I'm blind!!
Is this right?
Thanks josh.

BTW. I did search and don't find anything specific.

When you buy new bearings you get we races which tap in/out of the knuckle.

Yeah I got the races with the bearings. But I couldn't see if there were a race in the housing. Quite rusty.
I'll give it a go tomorrow.
Thanks Dan.

The race edges stick out of the housing, and are a different color metal. So they should be hard to miss if you give everything a good clean!

Got a pic of it now?, I'd be interested to see whats rusty.

In the bare knuckle balls there will be a seat for it to sit in top and bottom
