I just got hold of a couple of lj50's and was wondering if anybody has put a turbo or blower on one of these engines

Love it. Sounds almost identical to my zook.
The issue with forced induction and 2 strokes is always going to be cyling of air out of the exhaust ports under compression.
Find a way around this for correct cylinder filling and you're in with a chance.
As with any custom forced induction setup, you'll need good luck to perfect the tuning.

Basically, to turbocharge a conventional 2 stroke engine(like the LJ50 motor)you need exhaust valves.

Because the exhaust port is higher than the inlet all your boost goes strait out the exhaust.
