we wanted one, but they only come in a 5 door and only a manual if they did them in a 3 door auto, it would be a diesel sitting in the driveway! other wise they drive nice! |

I love ours, particularly thre torque on tap, the fuel economy and once-a-year servicing costs. But others have some dislikes, see this thread: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=31948&hilit=grand+vitara+diesel |

The GV3, in general, is a good car. Size, price, performance and safety are all good. But if I had my time over again, I'd buy an auto petrol GV not a diesel. The gearbox is, at least on mine, rubbish. You also pay a $4,000 premium for the diesel motor over the 2.4 and, depending on how many Kms you do a year, it could five or six years before you make it back with the better economy of the diesel. The diesel is also more expensive to service. The dealer I go to has a list with all the servicing costs for all the models. Over the first 100,000 km a diesel costs about $1,000 more to service than a petrol. At 90,000 the timing belt gets replaced and that's a $1,000 service. Mine also needs a $1,084 exhaust temp sensor to be replaced, but I believe Suzuki know about the problem and have fixed it on later models (but are not interested in fixing this known problem on mine). |
