What have you guys done to replace your factory scissor jack after fitting big wheels to your Sierras? and I know a high lift jack is going to come up but I wanted an alternative and exhaust jack has been thought of too so... and Jack White. and jumping jack and.... ok, so this competition will be called a jack off. go! |

for my vitara i run a decent sized bottle jack that has a fairly long screw extension that comes out of the ram for extra height. |

Pajero bottle jack, 2 shafts one inside the other + screw. More compact that the sissor jack, yet > 50% higher. |

I had used my exhaust jack once in three years, pulled it out a month ago to have a play on the cement, and the seam had come apart.Binned it.I think it was a Bushranger. bye |

I used to put one of my ammo boxes under the stock jack, but I've just welded some 100x 50 rhs to the foot and some 50x50 to the top. Plenty tall enough now. Steve. |

Don't use a hi lift to change a tyre. Bottle jacks are cheap as and work fine |

i just bought one of those hydraulic workshop jacks, cart a cheap one of those around with me. although, i have a toolbox on the tray, so its not an option for everyone... |

you must have room to burn carting around a trolley jack & the pissy standard scissor jack is a joke. this is what i run, will still fit under the diff tube if i've got a complete flat & has heaps of travel.

IMO they belong on the farm doing stuff like pulling star pickets etc. Cheers Sven |

We put some shit under the car whilst it's up anyway. bye Hi  Using a Hi lift to change a tyre is awesome if you strap the axle to the chassis before you lift the car, then, you only have to lift the body of the car the height of the sidewall of the tyre to get the tyre off. If you don't do this, you have to lift the car the height of the sidewall of the tyre, + the droop in your suspension. that puts the body of the car higher than necessary, and makes everything very spooky. I can't impress on everyone enough the MASSIVE improvement in safety when using a hi lift with the axle strapped to the chassis. However, its all a lot of stuffing around (and extra weight) to end up with something no better than a standard jack with a block welded onto it. Of course, a stock jack with a block welded to it doesn't look as cool on top of your bullbar though. bye |

We use them to change tyres but there are mounts for the jack built into each corner of the car so the car can't fall over. Still not a ideal way of changing tyres but with a few people helping it takes less then a minute to change a tyre and we get a crap load of flat tyres.
