Check the trouble codes using the check engine light - that's the first step. Steve. |

You'll need access to a FSM, but jump the correct terminals on the diagnostic plug under the bonnet and the CE light will flash a code corresponding to the fault the computer is seeing. There are downloadable FSM's available on line. I have an FSM for a pre 1995 vitara EFI but the 97 is completely different. (i.e the plug/terminals are different and the codes aren't the same) Steve. |

Double check your spark plug leads.... Had similar problem with 97 efi vitara and a cracked lead was the culprit. |

What sort of mark in the cap? Could it be the rotor hitting? Check the cap is sitting concentric. |
