It is a usless vacuum thing pull the two hoses out and plumb them together and now u have another spot for a aftermarket temp sensor. A lot of Japanese car have them apart of emissions that do completey nothing. |

Its called a BVS valve , and in your case it is useless as you dont have the solenoid thats bolted to the head that one of the hoses go to (both hoses arent supposed to go to carb). its goes like this ... vacuum hose from carby to BVS valve ,vacuum hose from BVS to solenoid on head then vacuum hose from solenoid to EGR valve |

TVSV or Thermal Vacuum Switching Valve - it switches the vacuum on/off based on engine temperature. One of the two hoses will be routed to a vacuum port on the carburettor and the TVSV links the two ports when the engine is warm so the vacuum is applied to whatever the other tube is/was connected to, when the engine is cold, the TVSV blocks the ports so no vacuum is applied. Does you car have an EGR system - that is what it was commonly used with, to prevent the EGR from activating when the engine is cold. |
