Post subject:  Radiator stop leak
Has any one had any experience with radiator stop leak?

I know it's only a band aid fix but how long is expected to last?

Silverseal is my preferred brand. I have seen it almost permanently fix radiator and block leaks.

ive cracked an egg in a radiator before to stop leaks... and pepper , all of this is not permanent.

8O Did it work?? I assume you remove water first and let dry?
You would preety much be bush mechanic god after showing that one off, on the the trail.

Ahh should also say YES I have had experience with it. . . . . taking a water pump off and seen the consequences. It was built up in all cavities that were not in the "high flow" areas of the water system. Had the consistency of sand (probably isn’t as hard though). Was a G16B from wreckers, radiator was full so obviously worked :D

If it is just a leaking radiator I would get it repaired rather then put any of the stop leak stuff in a good motor.

the egg trick works. Ive done it before. You just crack a raw egg into the rad and fill up with water. Put cap on but dont lock it down tight . Let it sit loose for a while. As egg circulates it is pushed out where leak is and clogs it up. a good tempaory fix but isnt permanent.

Pepper works very similar.

Thats the plan shep. I just needed the car this weekend and it wasnt a serious leak.

x2. I use this and I have a spare tube in every car I own.
Put some in my Drover's radiator about 4 years ago when it had a slight leak and its still going today.

my 12mth old plastic tank ebay radiator sprung a leak yesterday
whacked in half a cup of black pepper and stopped it , this works well once it all
heats up and can last a long time if the leak is small but really it's a stopgap
untill you replace the radiator which i'll do this comming week with an all metal
radiator
