Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me if they had the issue with Raised Springs bowing to a point they are rubbing on the bump stop?

I have king raised srings and when back on the wheels they rub on the bump stop shaft also when turning they make a pop noise while i asume they rub over the bump stop lip.

What would you do to fix the bow? there are new seats available from FTS that corect it.

I tried putting ruber under the spring to push one side up, it helped move the spring around 1mm away so it doesnt rub anymore but still has a big bow.

Wondering if rotating the spring 180 degress would help, it wouldnt be sitting in the seat anymore, but the spring isnt flat on the bottom so rotating it 180 would theatretically push the bow in the other direction which really should straighten it up.

The bow also looks like its preventing it from giving any lift if they where straight i reacon there would be roughly around 20mm lift.

You can get coil spring relocators from somewhere but i cant remember who it was that sold them. They rotate the coil 180* so that the overlat is on the outside and straightens the coil.

yeah ive seen them advertised but at $145 thought that was a bit pricy, thats more than the front springs! I have contacted FTS but they havent responded, have got stuff from them before, bet there only like $30 or less for them direct.

Just thought if rotate 180 if it would make a difference, Prob could space one side out a little. But at the moment its pretty bad that it rubs on the bump stop.

What are the XL7 spring seats like? If you rotate the coils will they stay in posi over a few bumps?

would have to drop the control arm completly both sides to allow enough room to fit them.

I thought of getting a universal spacer prob a 10mm one or even rubber hose to put on the bottom of the spring to prevent them from sliding if rotated 180 degrees.

When i originally had the springs done 6 years ago the guys who did it just poped the springs in with a crow bar, they wernt seated properly but never moved. i recall the springs wernt bowed as much as the new springs now, both being King Springs.

There is also the rubber spring seat at the top to stop it moving around.

My only concern is that it doesn't leave much seat to keep the spring retained, but I guess that comes down to how much down travel you have. My Vit had (relatively) shite-loads with the strut spacers in and never got close to having the springs at full extension, so you'd probably be OK.

Would also raise your ride height by a few mm obviously.

Those things would work well if conbined with a coil retainer / clamp.

Lots of things limit the down travel on the xl-7, worse one is the sway bar (typically)

Even with everything disconnected the left wheel the spring will pop out, but driver side the spring needs a bit of help with the crow bar. So there pretty tight in there with the CV's connected, steering arms etc.

The old springs didnt have as much as a bow than the new springs, both are kings the ones in the bellow pic is 4 years old.
I recall these springs wernt seated properly either, eg not in the bottom spring groove, think i may try rotating the new springs and seeing if they will stay straight as well. didnt think of looking at the old photos lol.
