hey guys just wondering if any on could help me my 86 sierra is not selecting 2wd it goes in to the gear but you let the clutch out and it just wines then you put it in 4wd and its fine any help would be great

Pull the gear lever out and have a look at the shifter seat. Its like a rubber bushing that sits in the case, yours could be worn out or falling apart.

I know this symptom all too well now .
Also check if the spring retainer locking cap has come away. :roll:

Ok sweet thanks also i have just replaced two springs and ball barings within the box that wouldn't have anything to do with it

haha i have a nylon bush but we couldn't work out how it went in dose anyone know

Feed it straight down, then kinda twist it under the 2 lever locators and it will slip into place.

ok we had it like that but we couldn't get the stick to lock down is this the bush
