Don't make the repair too strong or next time it goes (yes it will break again), it will leave a big hole in the axle tube. |

so i am guessing the diff housing metal is just as weak/thin as the brackets. Is it possible to spread the load of where the brackets mount across a larger section of the diff somehow to prevent the whole diff ripping? or maybe diff bracing |

The diff will be fine. This happened to mine . I got some 5 mm plate and got it laser cut and welded new mounts on for both sides . That was 4 months ago and I haven't had a problem since |

Ended up getting 2stroker to fix the tear on the diff brackets. He welded up the torn (or tear-ed) bracket on the driver’s side (pic above) and a small crack that had started on the passenger side (Probably as a result of the damaged driver’s side). He added a small gusset to the outer side of each side's bracket (2 total). He did this as a opposed to laminating the bracket as he though the original damage was caused from a lateral force and gussets would be a better fix. Plus got him to press in some new rubber bushes that I got off ebay. Hoping rubber will put a little bit less load on the diff bracket and will give a little bit more flex compared to the poly bushes. $200 all up for the work by 2stoker. pretty happy with the end result. Will keep you posted how it holds up after some wheeling
