On my way home from work today, i'm barrelling along the highway with the music up, look down and see the engine light on. Looked straight to the temp gauge. At first I wondered where the temp needle was! It was so far up it was not even on the gauge anymore. Like way past the H.

So I coasted to a stop, and shut her down. Popped the bonnet and found upper radiator hose was split. Got some mates to bring water and a piece of hose (40km from home!)

So I filled her up, cap on, and drove. At 100, temp soared, and she boiled again. Opened up the cap, filled, started up with the cap off. Seemed like combustion pressure was trying to blast the water out the radiator cap. SHIT!

Refill and kept to 50-60km/h and she ran hot but drove home.

I am pretty sure I have AT LEAST blown the head gasket. Only 12 months ago I had the head done because of a boil dry and now IVE DONE IT AGAIN!

Dunno what to do with her now...

May be an air lock in cooling system,
try again after running without cap, and refilling.
You may be lucky. Hope so.
