RIm going away in a couple of weeks and im looking at doing a major oil service. Just seeing if theres any recommendations of brand to use from people who actually own these cars not some dodgy advice from a 16 year old at supercheap. |

Penrite everyday plus 10-40w or Everyday 5-40W Or if want full synthetic which lasts a tad longer go for HPR 10-40 If doing Gear oils, dif, transfer etc etc go for the Penrite Pro gear oil, most Autobarns have a Screen which recommends which Penrite oils to use. Also Repco can look it up. I would stay away from Catrol Magnatech or mobile one and valvoline. I find only the penrite holds up when going off road. This is what is recomended Engine HPR 30 Gearbox GEAR OIL 80W-90 Transfer and Diffs GEAR OIL 80W-90 Radiator 4 YR LONG DRAIN AFAB Brake DOT 3 BRAKE FLUID |

If you have lockers fitted apparently it's worth going for a specialised limited slip diff oil for them. Otherwise an API GL-5 SAE 80W90 gear oil is the service manual recommendation. |

I usually use castrol vmx80 but I really don't care as my diffs, transfer and gearbox oils get changed every couple of thousand kms. |

Penrite uses alot more zink in their oils, also doesnt thin out as quickly as other oils, dont know the details about it, but the odd 170,000ks i have travled using all the main brands on the shelf except FUCH and Liqui Moli, penrite was the only one that didnt go water thin after a few thousand K's. In previous cars i used Castrol Edge 5-40 which was a pretty good oil, kept the motor clean, and engine was quite revy using the stuff they now supposedly use liquid titanium, which is pretty new in engine oils. |
