Starting a new job in the new year and will be able to afford to get myself a new bike. I miss my drz

because i let my licence lapse i will be back on l's so im pretty much sold on an sv650s lams

Anyone got one they would like to share thoughts on and pictures

Have done a track day on a borrowed first gen one, can't speak highly enough of it. Good grunty V-power (for what it is) and a comfortable upright position - I'd even come close to saying that it's ergonomically closer to your old DRZ than it was to my Daytona.

Of course it's not a patch on the Trumpy in terms of belting it around a track, but the fact that I could jump on it cold and be comfortable after the first session tipping in and giving it a handful coming out of corners speaks volumes for it's predictability and tractability. All those good points would be magnified on the road.

By the sounds of it you're looking at (near) new, so can't give you much more detailed opinion on them... but given the heritage you couldn't pick a better LAMS runabout.

I haven't had a go on an SV but the people with them seem to like them for cruising around .

Why would someone make a track bike out of an SV?, that's pretty different!

Should be more aware of the darker side of suzuki atari.

Jazzor, from what ive read they handle incredibly well and being a 650 there nice and light which makes for great fun on the track.

Dark horse by the looks of it that black 2nd gen has a gixxer front end, which is probably what i will end up doing along with rear mono aswell.

This will be my first sports bike, so im looking forward to wind protection and good broad power.
My drz was pretty heavily modified, motard for road and original setup for dirt.

On tight roads it was far quicker then your average sports bike infact i kept up with brother on his zx10r in the twisties.

Its good to hear that they are comfortable, cant wait to test ride one

Well spotted Trypt - full Gix front end swap. Pretty painless from what I've heard, and 1000000000% improvement. That particular bike has been fiddled with quite a bit, and between it and the rider who knows how to get the most out of it... well lets just say it wiped the Mallala tarmac with much more expensive, powerful, modern bikes.

That's one of the reasons they make a good track bike - dirt cheap and easily upgradeable, as well as plenty of parts around. You bin it, it's not a $8k repair bill. Also the fact that they are not a warp-speed race bike means that you can concentrate more on your riding and less on self-preservation, and you have to ride closer to your limits to get the bike around. There are also specific race classes for them in club racing - more realistic than a $30k+ superbike build to even get on the grid.

I've never ridden a motard (and only a dirt bike a couple of times) but love the concept, and most track days I've been to there's at least one getting around in the fast group, and usually not looking out of place.

I go to the track days at Baskerville here, there was one just on Sunday. Representing on the motard (Ktm 690 Duke) in the advanced group. I use to have a DRZ too!

I had a SV1000S with twin Yoshi's and i miss that bike SOOOO much!!!!
Had to sell it due to unforseen circumstances a few years back and ended up getting a Bandit 1250S now which is a nice bike in its own right but the sound of the twin was unreal....i even contemplated selling the Bandit and getting another SV1000S

I rode the SV650S (sports version.....the SV650 is the upright) and it's a very nice bike to ride...nimble and plenty of power for a 650....easy/comfortable riding position and they aren't too bad on fuel from what i heard

Throw a Leo Vinci, Akrapovic or Yoshi pipe and you won't be dissapointed mate!!!

I'm in the same boat v twins are quite possibly the best sound to ever comr from an engine.

Exhaust will probably be the first thing I will do. I think sv's need twin pipes. (Twin headlights, twin tail lights)
And the lazer xtreem is the best looking twin for an sv650 IMO.
Heaps more expensive but worth it.

I dunno... the Daytona at full scream with the Jardine is horn, and then there's the RSV4


I reckon the thousands need twin pipes, but aesthetically yes they suit the 650s too

My neighbour has a sprint sounds pretty cool.
i forgot about v4's. duke desmodeicci sounds amazing too.
id like to see a vfr1200 with a pipe, reckon that would sound pretty hawt aswell
