I'm just collecting parts for a truggy comp build, I am going to run lux diffs with 37s & stock motor, 6.5 transfer my question is,

What would be better, 4.8s or 5.29s , I know 5.29s would be great for crawling, but will it be to low for when I need a little punch from the 1.3?

Gearing calculator - http://www.grimmjeeper.com/metric_gears.html

Have a play with something you know (like your current car) and then compare with your proposed setup and see what the numbers are like.

Are bigger tyres on the cards in the near future ? Do you do mostly rocks or some open trails as well ? 4.8's should be ok, just remember aftermarket 5.29's wont fit in a stock 4.8 3rd member. Ive got a 1.3, 38's, 5.14's and 5.29's and its driveable on open trails but for big step ups where it needs a squirt I have to ring its neck to get it up. Appsie has got a 1.3, 4.8's or 4.5's? 6.5's and 37's and seems happy with his.

Thanks red :-) I might. Buy them as there the right price, so no huge out lay if I don't decide to use them.
