Post subject:  Retained coils vs limit straps

Hey gang,

What are the pros and cons of having retained coils over limit straps?

Cheers.

I rekon a zook doesn't need anything more then the shock to limit it, and I would also retain the spring on one end only, mine spun round and was crooked in the bottom seat which made it push into my shock damaging it. Plus having stretch in a coil will faitgue it pretty quickly I rekon.

Thats why i was thinking do both. retaining top and bottom but have a liiiittle stretch before a limit strap/shock.

But in saying that, Scott's coils were fine and you know how much his rear diff moves in all directions

The coil will only come loose by about a 1" in the rear and 3"s in the front so maybe retained at one end in the rear with drop out cones? and retained both ends in the front? Does balance get effected at all with a retained coil vs UN-retained? :?

Personally, I hate unretained coils. Not sure what the law says over there, but east coast requires the coil to be fully captive.

3 in is alot
Find some longer coils
Un retained coils make the car floppy and unstable
U should still fit straps to save ur shocks anyway
