Hey everyone I'm new to the whole world of cars and would like everyone's opinion.

I'm a 19 year old student in Brisbane who loves going camping and 4x4ing (grown up with it and I work casual at a outdoors store) but I also need a car that I can drive around town and get good fuel economy from. I'm going to be getting a loan from the parents to buy it so I'm hoping for a car around the $10,000 mark giving me maybe $3000 on top of the car loan to do some smaller practical mods.

So I'm looking into the Jimny because it meets most of my criteria. Quick search on Carsales comes up with this fella.

Thoughts? I do have a manual licence but I do a lot of peak hour driving and am honest enough to say I'm lazy.

What would be the first things you would do to it if you had say $3000-4000?

Keep your money till you drive it a bit and see what you need, you might need lockers but you might need a set of draws, horses for courses really.

By the sounds of it a Jim will fit what you want pretty perfectly.

First thing I would do is change the auto for a manual or put a transmission cooler in. There is a few threads on the subject.

Depends on the type of terrain you want to be able to tackle.

With just a few thou, a moddest upgrade would be some 29's, 2" lift. Maybe a locker.

Have a look at Jimny Bits for the suspension gear.

Hi mate, I sent you a PM about my jimny for sale, seems what you are after. I can also tell you rhino racks make a great system for jimnys without the roof rails, is only about $350 and comes with the flat tracks you pop rivet to the roof then can adjust the rails accordingly. Jump on the rhino racks website and you will see it, that was actually my next mod. Can even throw aluminium roof basket in for you if you are interested in the car as it was the next mod like I said, had even bought the basket!
