Hey guys, been working pretty hard at getting a GTI motor into my zook, will post up some pictures tomorrow
I have a quick question though, I got everything up and running today, but after noticing some weird noises have spent all afternoon stripping everything back testing the wiring (and googling) to try and find the issue with no luck

The noise is coming from the injectors when I turn the power on, but before actually starting the car. As they cycle up they sound like they are short circuiting, I've tested them all individually and they all do it. Thing is I haven't been able to find any useful info on Google as there is so much other stuff to do with clicking and buzzing sounds, but these really are more shorting sounds, crackling and popping sounds and even almost a kind of beep, but only for a second when they power up.

I've tested and re done my wiring and cant find the problem, so I don't know what is. That said, I'm running an after market ECU (stinger 4424) with cylinders 1 and 4 hooked up to one channel and 2 and 3 up to the other channel. (I don't have a cable at the moment to check if it is coming up with any errors) It does start and idles, currently rather high, but I guess a proper tune will help (also still need to wiring in a couple of extra sensors)

Anyone ever had anything similar? all the injectors cant be having the same problem when only a month ago they were all fine (tested and never noticed any noise before putting into my zook, was in a another zook so nothing has really changed) All I can think is it has something to do with the ECU :S

Probably the sound of the fuel pump pressurising the fuel rail before starting.

edit: could also be the computer cycling the injector solenoids as a pre start diagnostic or priming.

google for a diagram of an injector and it should become clear how they work


Is there actually a problem starting or running the engine?

Thanks for the reply, there doesn't seem to be any major running issues, and starts pretty good and idles.
It is hard to try and describe a noise over a forum, but I never heard them make a noise like this before and it really just doesn't sound right to me
Once I get it all wired back up I'll record a video of it if it sill does it

My Vit makes a buzzing noise before start up, as soon as ign is on.
Its loud enough for me to hear, and I'm a lot deaf.
I thought it was fuel pump priming, but I like waternmouse's idea better.
