Hey guys, since all the talk of J20as popped up I've been wandering, is the J18 from the Baleno a viable conversion too? It seems a whole lot easier and cheaper to get than a J20a and still has more than enough power. Thanks Hayden

yeap. no reason you couldnt. From what i saw when i have a j18 in the shed. its easier as you dont have to do hydrollic clutch setup etc. J18 has the same size fly wheel as the g16

Awesomeness. It sounds like quite a viable alternative to a G16b.

Might get tricky though- manifolds, accessories, sump/pickup- and I reckon there's more j20's around than j18's as they were only used in the GTX baleno IIRC

Steve i reckon we only saw it in the GTX, even the j20a bolt on bits differ a bit between SV Vitara's & the Grand Vitara.
