Guys, Im looking to remove a power steering setup from a guy wrecking his 1992 SWB Vit to put in my 1997 SWB Vit , ive never messed around with power steering before so im looking for advice on what i need to remove. Ive had a look in the manual and looks like i need to remove the following bits: - Power steering gear box - Power steering pump and pully - Fluid reservoir - Lines - Any brackets
Is that it? Do i need to remove tie-rods? Is it a hard job?- the gear box looks like it might be a pain to remove? Any tips/ advice on removing would be appreciated! Cheers
Pretty simple job to remove. Socket and spanner set pretty much al you need, you will need to remove the ball joint from the pitman arm.
The list of the stuff you were after look good you will probably need the steering shaft as the PS box is longer than the manual one. The only thing im not sure on is the wire from the pressure switch on the PS pump which engages the idle up under load. The wiring on this may be different as the 92 will be carb and your 97 EFI. It may just need to be run to a pin on the ECU.
Steering box is easy to remove its 3 bolts thorugh the chassis, you will need to remove the radiator.
