I'm just wondering all the types of conversions for a 1981 1lt sierra
Reason for this is because I'm geting a 1lt sierra it has everything but a motor
I want to make a awesome off road beast the car is going to cost me 200 and I'm want to know some prices and all so I know what kind of cost I'm in for

1ltr sierra motor will be the easiest and most likely the cheapest to fit, and heck, it fits perfectly in the design spec ;)

Jake, you're going to have a hard time on this thread too. You can put almost any engine in a Sierra- sierras have been around a long time, people have tried almost everything that fits and stuff that doesn't too.

These days most people would suggest sticking with the 1.0 or upgrading to a 1.3/1.6 G series motor.

Stand by though for a list of every whacky conversion ever tried though.

Engine conversions are pretty complex though- there's lots of ways they can be stuffed up.

Steve.

Christover has a build thread of swapping a 1.3 into a 1.0. He might chime in with the link.

Have you done an engine conversion before? Lots to take into account.

12ht with early 40 series 3 speed gearbox and transfer. I had this setup in the late 80s and it was awesome.

don't discount the 1ltr motor.. mine go's quite well. it is 100% off road but on a gravel road it holds 100kph with 32" tires and 2 decent sized blokes in it!

1.0 litres here in VIC were getting a bit rarer and harder to find good ones.
I loved my 1.0 motor,
but went to 1.3 for availability of engines and boxes etc.

Now you're just being silly, we know low revving diesels are no good for Zook gearing

Hayabusa motors are expensive as every body wants them for their off road buggies ets. however my hayabusa has a bigger motor than my jimny and at over 200whp i think it would tear the jimny trans and transfer to peices especially given the jimny's are rocking ~88hp at the crank. given what you have has 1.0litre components im not sure they would stand upto those sorts of power levels  you could always just source a factory fitted motor and slot it straight in with no problems.
