G'day guys
Long story short.
Pulled out an alloy diff from the wreckers, bought a steel diff. Bought a spartan locker in hope to swap housings and use internal alloy diff parts to build my new locked diff and throw it in after the diff guy did the setup for me.

Called me up and said the carrier is a one piece carrier and does not come apart so we cant fit the locker and gears into it. Carrier should unbolt so we can put the stuff in and close it all up, like the sierra ones do.

I was under the impression that the carrier in all alloy diffs were the same...what the hell is this thing. All the images i've seen online dont have an opening as large as on my carrier.
Diff guy says its def. a virgin diff.

The vitara I pulled this out of, was a later model one, not sure of year but it had the update dash...maybe the new ones had different diffs?

Nah its def out of a vitara. I pulled it out myself at the pick a part...
Was out of an EFI vitara. But I have no idea what year it was. There were 3 there but this one had the engine out so it made it much easier to remove from the top...my laziness is my enemy!

does it have 26 spline side gears?

Side gears at the shop so I cant tell you. As a matter of fact, I also kept the CV's out of this same car. So I can check the CV's when I get home, but im 99% sure they are 26 spline, as my vit is currently 26 spline...

Cheers

You're a champ. These are the exact type pics Im' looking for.

Yeah that's what I need, one I can open up and and work on the guts, and then bolt it all together. Not this side hole shit I have.

hate to burst your fantasy bubble mate but that carrier wont help you either , you need a 3 pin carrier like from the front or rear from a narrow track , or the rear of a wide track and then some machine work..

i cant see the spartan/lockrite reacting very well to only having 1 pin

Burst away! lol
Nah its been done by a few blokes on here with just 1 pin, and seems to work well.
Chris has had it in his vit for a while, and I hear he drives it pretty hard and it holds up just fine.

Low range have confirmed it will work just fine with the 1 pin, but a little weaker, but not too much.

Thanks for the heads up though!
