Did a quick search....

Anyone know what side of the car the Jimny interior light wiring runs down? Ours is a 2005 model. I'd like to tap into it and put a light in the rear somewhere, has anyone added additional lights to the cargo/rear area from the main interior light? It almost looks as though the roof lining has a moulded dent in it for an additional light, or other countries ran one.

Cheers and beers!

Superduki.

Use a yellow tongue straight through the roof from the existing light to the back near the door and fit off your new light, someone here did that recently looks easy and good.
I cant find it its 2:25 am, Im on my phone and have work in a few hours.. bah

yeah do it like that, just run some twin core from your new light and tap into the original one

of you tap in direct off the bulb holder you can make use of the off door on switch to work em both as well

Spot on, thanks for the advice guys! That was my aim to operate it off the standard light switch configuration. They are an adequate light in the front, but now our windows are 20% it's a bit hard to see in the back at night!

Cheers, Superduki.

Does anyone actually know the answer to this?

My interior is currently completely empty no seats or carpet and i may as well run the wire before i reinstall everything (after it dries).

look down the right (or is it the left :S) hand side under the rear plastic panels?
they probs still run power down the back for that rear light, it's just not being used

no they do not, as no models uses it haha i dont think iv seen any Jimny with that rear light no matter what the spec. even the leather ones.

iv had the interior completely stripped out and there is indeed no cable in the body for that rear light indent that on the rear left.

as for interior lights

well there you go.
seems strange as there is even a hole for a switch for the back door.

I wired up a nice led light strip in my jimny a few years ago.
it's super bright :)

didn't even look for wiring as I wanted it to run off the second battery

depending on the year Jimny there is a rear door switch as mine (2005 VVT) has one, ;) if you have the hole there then you should have the wiring as well. its just an earth for the front door light i believe.
