got any reduction gearing to counter act the larger tyres or are you just scull fucking the clutch off road?
31zook seems to be able to wheel some pretty hardcore terrain & push it pretty hard & keep his junk in 1 piece.

Hey guys So I've just recently shagged my 2nd rear ring and pinion on my jimny. i thinking of doing hilux diff conversion. I've just recently upgraded all my suspension with ORA radius arms, springs, avo shocks and other bits and pieces. so that all may b a waste... I'm puzzled on which route to take on this; hilux diffs reusing all the jimny suspension components hilux diffs with 3/4 link setup and jimny shocks and springs hilux diffs with 3/4 link setup and custom spring/air shock setup thanks guys really need some input on this Matt |

There is something wrong mate, if your setting it up that's why, if a guy is setting it up his doing his job wrong... But if your just interested in a Lux swap then its a cool idea. What's 3/4 suspension? |

You will want a a bundeara rear and a hilux front or 70 series front and rear, but not a rear hilux (its not offset). lux/bundy are probably a bit narrow. If your going to the effort of changing the diffs you will want to change the radius arms, yes. there are a few options, landrover arms flipped like gwagens for radius or custom 3link+panhard like Joshes are possibly the best bets. You will be able to sell the arms for resonable coin so no big loss there. you can probably reuse the rest. You will be able to just cut all the suspension mounts off the old housing and it will all mount up easily I think. with 70 series you should be able to engineer 34s as they ship with 750 16s as a factory option. EDIT: I just checked the axel widths thread, hilux width isnt too narrow. but its not much wider than standard. |

yeah mate i did the diff, blacklash and contact all setup sweet (i use to work for holden/suzuki dealership) original diff destroyed everything all teeth and axles, this one i think ive lost a tooth on the pinion coz i hear it skip once only every 50-100km, mainly just after clutch in as why i think its the pinion. i have been waitin for front cv and shafts to go, but havnt yet. im not keen on spending the money to do rear full floater, and front hd shafts and cvs, if the r&p r still going to give me hassle. yeah like 3 link front and 4 link rear, not sure. just the fact of doin all the calculations to make a link suspension scares the shit out of me haha would it work reusing my springs and shocks with a link setup? |

Springs and shock will work, just less effectivley at controlling unsprung mass. Tho, the extra 100Kg of diff i would say that would be equal difference to a driver-passenger and bar with winch. If it was going to road driven/engineered, i would 3-link front and rear cause the tank is in the way in the back on Hilux diffs But if it was a comp truck, i would buy 60/80series diffs, put a fuel cell in the boot, 3-link the front and 4-link the rear. |

Thanks mate, was thinking about the fuel tank with 4link. so 3 link + panhard front and rear would be the go then. whats the best way of doin all the maths, seen afew programs for calculations on sites like pirate 4x4 |

all damage done with stock gearing. the transfer and diff went at the same time at powerlines :/ i had a sierra transfer with 6:4 gears (way too low) ready for it so thats in it now to keep it driving. i was hopin gearin would stop me blowing shit up, coz im pretty rough haha, ive done in 2 g13's, 2 rear diffs and a transfer... but now i got gearing and a blown diff, so will never know

If you are having issues it's because the Jimny has an issue with quality control in regards to rear diffs. Chuck a Maruti rear diff in it and I bet you won't break one. BUT, make sure your housing is straight first. |

BUT, make sure your housing is straight first. X2 I smashed a 4.3 rear diff and smifkid smashed x2 4.11 rear diffs, but once we both went to the maruti centres neither of us had a issue after that |
