Wheeling on the weekend ended up with Two punctures..
Worst part of all.. It didn't even occur off-road but on road works !
My mate plugged one tyre on the roadside and I fitted the spare to get me back home.

If I am gonna do this and do this properly I want to get 4 new All terrains under the Vehicle.. but this has occurred at a Bad time and the total budget I have for Tyres is $600.
That equals $150 a corner.
Highway Tyres just don't cut it on the trails...

I have priced up Federal Couragia AT's at $180 a corner...
The other Option I have is to wait 2 weeks and get some new Tyre from a company called LEAO which have a tyre called an R620 which from photo's doesn't look a hell of a lot different to a
BF Goodrich All Terrain for $135....

I am open to any brand as long as it is an All-terrain and comes in either a 235/60/R16 or a 215/70/R16 (which is on there now) and won't cost more then $150 a corner.

Buying tyres seperately and then getting them fitted is not an option... I have no place to keep tyres once they arrive except on the vehicle !

by the looks of it most ATs arent going to be much more rugded than the tyres you have.

maybe try and get a second hand set of muds

Im going the MT's for next tyres as read good things about them. Yeah there made in taiwan but so is most other tyres these days :)

There a truck tire and 10ply, asked how well they flex and he said pretty well, wont puncture them very easily.

I got a few punctures on my yokohamas, nails etc seem to like them, but the bridgestones have been good, have found a few bent screws the roofing type stuck in them but after pulling out it didn't get all the way through.

Either way they dont look like a bad a tyre for its price. Better than a retread.

Out of curiuosly how old are the tyres that you got the punctures on?

They will have a date on them (4 digits, week of year and year, so 2707 = 27th week of 2007)

um the only Numbers I could find has x1310 Thats all i could find and it was a Falken Land Air T110.
The front tyres are Achillies Desert Hawk HT's they didn't get as much as a chip off the rubber..
The tyres all have about 20 % wear.. They are about 5-6mm above the indicator..

My Spare how ever has about 2mm about the tread wear...

if your strapped for cash, check out gumtree for some good second hand tyres rather than buying a cheap unknown brand.

Jumped on Gumtree and there was not alot on offer in the 215 70 R16 size..

225 65 R16 might scrape like a Mother and I really do like having just that little bit more articulation..

32 PSI...
It was on tarmac at the time of the incident..
The Mud and crap you see was caused by the water truck infront They had a 2 k section striped back to pretty much the base... and the only poor bugger on duty was the water cart so the people living nearby didnt complain of the dust..

I had 235 70 R16 with out any scraping so would be ok. they do have smaller eg 225 70 R16 or 225 60 R16 etc.

Looks like ill be the Guinea pig for grizly grips MT.

I look on gumtree and ebay for spare tyres never see any either.

Ive seen 4x4 tyres go pretty cheap at bob janes might be worth calling around.

The r620's are made by Linglong.

Has anyone read any reliable reviews on linglong or bct/pinnacle?

Yes they are made by linglong and apparently Linglong is the 3rd Largest Tyre manufacturer

You going to keep this thing for long enough to wear through a good set of tyres?

Why not jsut get your punctures properly fixed and keep saving to get some good tyres, for all you know ling dings could puncture even easier and I reckon you can be sure they arent going to last as long as some good stuff.

The Whole problem is : Saving..

Everytime I get close to the target... Something else goes wrong and the money needs to be spent on that..
I know going for a Bigger and better brand may be better in the long run but I just don't see the goal being reached..

Then when other stuff comes up, you can deal with it and not have to worry about tyres for a long long time

Yes there is cheaper tyres out there. The Couragia's are the cheapest and would be the ones I would have no hesitation about recommending. They are an awsome tyre for the price that they are sold at.

Yokohams, damn good tire, wears out way way to quick.

Only read good things on these pini's Usually Great wear, Unbeatable traction off road, quite on road, and these are guys that drive F150's, big trucks, max pressure they can be pumped up to is 80PSI 8O , my only concern and what i cant find is what are they like on wet roads, found a test and said there excellent braking but accelerating expect a little less traction.

Another possible option and what i always do is put the tires on GEM so dont have to worry about finding a wab of cash and just pay them off each month. Works out to be around 40 a month for a set of good pirelli ATR's that will last you around 90,000k and get you just about anywhere, best tire i ever had, if have a bad month pay a little extra when you can, the only trap people face is they leave it till the last minute and then have a 1000 debt that has 29% interest that is harder to pay off.

Unfortunately Gecko I would be one of those people.. back in the 90's I bought a Playstation on release day through GE.. Paid the minimum off per month, lets just say it was one expensive Playstation..
This time around I bought the vehicle without finance and intend to stay that way...

I know everyone is advising me against the cheap tyres but they do fall in my budget and the way I see it, If they do wear faster or Puncture easy or all of the above... to get a WHOLE new set of them in 40'000k's time they are still only going to cost me next to nothing.. Compared to if I spend a whole heap on a Good set of tyres and run into similiar issues..

Due to the weird ass size of tyre required there is not much choice in Tyres in the low end range.. One place today tried to sell me Blue-Streak Cruise tyres and were confident they would do the job.. Needless to say I wont be getting them..

nope nothing like the bfg :p not all the additional sip (small cuts) in the treead. They are designed to squeeze out the water when driving on wet roads. Also compound compound compound. It don't matter how good the tread looks if its got a shitty compound then it won't last. I'm not saying that the Ling Long's are a shit tyre, I havn't had any exprience with them so can't tell you about them.
Also you need to factor in the price of fitting and balancing the tyres if you don't buy them from a shop. This is additional and you will probable get hit for disposal of old tyres aswell.
In my workshop if you come in with ebay 4wd tyres I will charge you $45 to remove and refit your wheel, strip and refit your tyres and balance. Then there will be $15 disposal as well.

get good tyres from the US. i had 33 inch KMs landed for less than $1000. over here they would have cost me $1600 plus. cheap tires are a risk that isnt worth taking

example, the AT-s which i run on my GV are 114 per tire. add about $200 for shipping and a set of 4 is going to be just over your 600. for a quality tire.

you have to figure in shipping obviously. but $50 per tire shipping is more than i have paid every time ive bought from them.

that and they have generally come fedex and been at my door in less than a week
