Hi Guys

Rob from the OFFROAD-ARMOURY here in the UK... we could use a little help and info on Jimny front chassis rails as we're finding a couple of small discrepancies in Aus Jimny front chassis legs, effecting the fitment of front bumpers, but there doesn't seem to be any pattern as to which year/model is which?

Some have a fully boxed front chassis rail and some have the C shaped front chassis rail...

And pics/info anyone has/could offer would be very much appreciated!

We'd also be interested in purchasing part of a front chassis (Boxed rail type) and having it shipped over here to the UK if anyone is able to help with that?

Rob,

The C section chassis only came here recently with the '12 model Jimny and the higher bonnet. All previous models have the boxed unit and two different chassis flanges.

OK guys, thanks for your info.

The bottom picture of the +06 model has a round bar recovery point on the drivers side, we didn't have these here until 2013. (We're actually looking at buying an 2013 right now for the business) but I don't suppose if anyone knows if the small bolt hole in that recovery loop lines up with the elongated hole on the other recovery eye? Are ARB brackets mirrored Left to Right???

Rob, i doubt that the lines line up,

Some remove the roundbar tow hook partly because it gets bumped alot,

Im from south africa, the jimnys here are all the same since in is only available from 2008 to current moddels with the roundbar recovery hook,

I was doing some manufacturing of the pront bumper from time to time.

And would love to share my findings,

I grinded off the small plat plate that the plastic bumper was mounted on, then I mounted two flances both sides in the inside face of the closed channel,

Then i ussually would clamp the flances on the inside of each beam, to my own jimny with my bar removed and placed the bumber on the flances , where i them spot welded the flances to the bumper profile, and took it off the car to weld it full.

I made the assumption that the angles of the ladder frame chassis of the two beams as seen from a view from top are fairly constant for the same jimny models ,

This method helped me as no pre fitment measuring was needed on a clients vehicle,

These flances was then bolted on each beam with 4x 12mm bolts and i inserted a bush inside the beam so that the channel doesnt close due to deformation.

Personally i think you would try to model the front part of the chassis on CAD or build a replica of the chassis to make the allignment of the flances very easy,

Theses flances went through the front face of my custom bumper with a large hole for the recovery points.

Note: as from the pics it looks like as if the arb flances have holes cutted into them so that you dont have to remove the plated that the plastic bumper was mounted on.
