What oil filter is everyone using.


The Ryco No for the H25A V6 is Z172 and the J20 4cly is a Z418.


Is it ok to use the Z418 filter on a V6? They have the same size thread, same diameter but the Z172 is about 20mm longer.


I ask as its sometimes hard to get the Z172 off the shelf at some places and the difference in price is quite alot.

I'd imagine that the Z172, being larger, would have a higher flow rate....could be wrong though

depending on how much long it is, you would get better filter life because of the surface area of the the filter is greater, blockages occur less.

The difference in length is less than 20mm. I plan to start doing oil changes every 5000kms.

Doubt it will cause any problems with short changes.
