Hi guys

was driving smoothly yesterday that i felt that my jimny 1998 has lost power. I put it in "P" or "Park" mode and again started to drive yet the same condition. i was feeling that it might have been put in 3rd or 4th gear byt when i put it in reverse gear, it moved with same power it usually has
drove it to the mechanic but didnt tell him about my opinion . he checked it and said that a "NET/Partion in chamber area which allows the gear oil to move around has gotten dirty. He took that "Net: out , cleaned it with Nasa rustonil solvent , which is used to clean the guns and refitted it . The jeep is surprisingly ok .
i am amazed to see all this ' . but i am skeptical that this solution may be tentative arrangement
have any of you experienced this ever'

These are the pictures of the engine my jimny 1998 model , japan assembled automatic jeep is running .
i shall be grateful if you tell me if it is G13bb or G16b

Firstly.......I had a hard time understanding it.

Secondly you seem to be running propane (lpg).

Thirdly your engine designation is on the LH side of the block. e.g g13bbxxxxxx

Do NASA use this to clean their Photon Guns, or is it the one they use on Phasers? Where can I buy it?

Glad to hear your Jeep is now running well.

I am grateful to all of you for your replies.

i am running it not on LPG , rather it is being run on C.N.G (Compressed Natural Gas ) .

The mechanic says it is the engine of Baleno

Look at the engine number on the left rear of the block.
It will tell you if it is an original Jimny G13bb or a retrofit from some other Suzuki.

What country are you in?

The engine number isn't hidden you just have to look in the right place.

Look down behind the exhaust manifold where the engine meets the gearbox.

Just being curious - how does the engine number tell you if it's an original Jimny G13bb or a retrofit? The last Baleno I looked at started G13BB

Maybe adding 'original' in there confused some people.

AFAIK all Jimny (G series) engines start with G13BB... If the OP reads his and it starts with anything other than G13 then it is out of another car (most likely a Suzuki  )
Doesn't the owners manual have the VIN and engine number written in it, along with key number and first owner details?
Given the particular info, can't the local dealer look it up?

BTW... I've never seen or heard of a 1.3 Baleno.
Here in Aust we only got 1.6 or 1.8 versions.

Balenos shipped with 1.3, 1.5, 1.6 & 1.8 gasoline engines, or a 1.9 diesel - most dealers can look up the chassis number and tell you what the original engine number would have been - from the physical appearance that's either a G13, G15 or G16 - they all came as 16v SOHC

If you put your VIN in to this catalogue it will give you the original engine number I believe. It did for me anyway. https://partsouq.com/en/catalog/suzuki

My guess is something in the gas set up us messing up your TCM.

Can you run petrol an try to see if it clears itself?

Or it's a fault code that's making it not to select 1st or 2nd?

And I believe that it would be a stock motor as it's too neat to be a retro fit (as a generalization)

The VIN will be on a plate on the firewall in the engine bay. This is where it is on all Australian models anyway.

"atari4x4, Thanks for sparing time to post a pic.

I have entered the chassis number of my jimny shown in such blue plate present in my jimny in Online Suzuki Parts Catalog but it says that VIN should be in 17 numbers but there is no number having 17 digits on that blue plate . My chassis number contains 11 digits

from what i see in the pic , judging by the pixels (cause ive seen a few photoshops in my time) the alignment of the engine compared to where it sits in relation to the radiator and firewall , the linear alignment of the intake hose and other things which bring me to the conclusion its a g13bb original engine. the baleno also came out overseas as a g13bb hence his mechanics statement

From what i can translate in my expert spanish translation of the OP's post is that the net/partition is actually part of the automatic transmission "strainer/filter" , his loss of power was due to a transmission problem ...

at this stage im just guessing .....

Zain - The VIN stands for Vehicle Identification Number. On the blue plate on my Jimny (it is actually black on mine) I have the chassis number and the engine type just as Atari has. The VIN is on another plate on the opposite side. If your does not have it then perhaps it has been removed.

perhaps i have to confirm it mike.

still i have seen for VIN on two places for sure. 1) driver's side door jam and (2) wind shield base from drivers
side . but there are still some additional places to be looked around. I have red here that the location of VIN
varies with model and region. I would be grateful if you tell me some additional locations to look for my VIN

Zain

I have seen the VIN on Eurpean vehicles under the carpet on the trunk of the vehicle. Apart from that it can be in the vehicle handbook and warranty book. All possible locations have then been covered. Have you been able to check that all vehicles in Argentina have a VIN? Perhaps check some otjher vehicles to see where they have it. This is all I can suggest.

Found a reference to the VIN being on the chassis rail behind the right rear wheel in my workshop manual. Might look there for it. I have a diagram but can't work out how to post it up.
