Hi Guys,

My Vit has suffered a sloppy gear change caused by the selector bush moving up the gear selector (The bush is shown in the pic circled in red). I managed to get a new bush from Suzuki for $7, it lasted for a day, then it too was pressed up the gear selector and once again the gear selector went sloppy and vague.

Has anyone else had this type of issue and if so, have you managed to fix it ?

I also replaced the seat (labled 19) - albeit with what appeared to be a good second hand part.

It is almost like the selector is being pushed down with high force causing the ball to pass through the bush.

If it's similar to the serria box I've had the Locating bolt fail twice....the machined end of the bolt sheared off.....not the bush at all....couldn't see it until I remove the bolt.

Mine does the same thing every time I take it 4x4ing.
I haven't managed to fix it apart from putting everything back in place, then waiting till the next time I'm off road and it comes up the stick again.
Was thinking of tapping item 32 on your drawing with two grub screws holding the bush in place, but haven't had the time yet.
If you can get in there, burring over the top edge on 32 after the bush is fitted may stop it from coming up the stick also.

FIXED!

Replace part 19 and 29 with new parts ( $18 from Suzuki ) - what a difference they make, gear change is great now and no pressure on the bush as the seat is much thicker than the second hand part I put in - hence, it raises the selector ball up off the bush ...

is there much to it? just removing the lever or do u pull off the selector housing?

another thing that goes is 42 and the slot on the ball.
I just weleded mine up and reground them back in to shape and it feels 100 times better.
if u get any swing left to right it could be this as well

get 29 too - if it's slipped over the ball at the end of the selector it will be stretched ... for the sake of a few bucks ..

BTW: Part numbers for easy ordering through suzuki are:

Part 29: 25551-60A02
Part 19: 28117-60A00

About $18 for both ...

Also, prob a good idea to replace the 2 retaining bolts - part 42.. Part Number for these is 0913508006
