Just stripped the back axles down on the 87 sierra and each axle had 2 wheel bearing spacers. It went spacer, bearing, spacer, retainer. Is this normal? The manual only shows one spacer and I understand some kits now come with a bearing that has a permanent spacer already on there? By the looks of it the kit I have coming has no spacers at all? One side also had an oil seal protector, the other side did not... How important are these as the kit also looks like it does not have the oil seal protector. Cheers, Hamish. |

Just order the bearings that suit your vehicle. WT's run a bearing with an offset inner race, which acts like a spacer. As for the seat protector, they are not supplied with ANY bearing kits. They are a genuine only part. If you lube yur seal and wipe your axle down with oil, and are very carefull, you should be able to get the axle in without damaging the seal. |

I ordered the bearings for a SJ50 (NT), they have not arrived yet but the picture on the website has no spacers... I have already cut the old bearings and spacers off the axles so I hope I ether don't need them or the picture is wrong. I was just not sure what was normal. So the oil seal protector is just to protect the seal when you are re-installing the axles, nothing more? |

Bazuka wrote: I have already cut the old bearings and spacers off the axles You will need a spacer on each axle if you run NT bearings. If you fit WT bearings you don't fit the spacer because it is built in to the bearing inner race. Depends how bad you have hacked them (spacers), they may be reusable even with a cut through them. |

Just went and found the old outer spacers and they are not cut to bad so I will reuse them, The inner ones and in bits but I will try without... So WT bearings fit NT axles? If so I will buy them next time. |

Some kits come with the spacer built into the bearing. Others i've seen with a seperate spacer. |

WT bearings with the built in spacer are approx twice the price of NT bearings so it pays to reuse the spacer rings. |

4wd products sells NT wheel bearing kits for $69 delivered and includes seal protectors and spacer rings. Like jas does, I have just brought a NT set for my WT diffs (the WT kit is $120) I ordered it yesterday at midday and it was on my doorstep when I got home from work this arvo. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.vi ... 0984179748 |
