Post subject:  Jimny Rear Suspension Bolts - Size?
So I had an incident last week where I dropped a shock in the bush. The guys that pressed the castor corrector bushes into my radius arms also chucked in my suspension and they did a horrendous job of it. Honestly, I could have checked at my car from across the room and done a better job. :roll:

Anyway, that's next weeks project to take it all out and check it.

For the moment though, I need to put the rear passenger side shock back in.

I went to Supercheap and got some high tensile bolts to replace them (M12 x 1.75 x 60mm) but when I tried to put it back in it just wouldn't seat properly, it felt like it was just stripping the nut. So then I though, you know what, I'll just remove the other bolt from the other shock to see what that's like... only to find that it it used to be the bolt for my panhard... I don't know what bolt is in my panhard now... but it looks like the guys that did it just started cannibalizing bolts rather than just putting the right ones back on.

So now I'm sitting here with two different bolts, not knowing what's actually the right one...

Does anyone know the exact bolt that I need to get?

I carry a couple of spare bolts and they were only a few dollars from Suzuki. I really don't know what size or thread type they are. They should have them in stock in Sydney so the best bet would be to order some genuine ones from Suzuki.

Don't quote me on this but I think they are M12x1.5 with a tensile grade of 10 which I think supershit only has grade 8.8.

M12x1.75 is metric course thread. Its not that.

It will either be M12x1.5, or M12x1.25.

Just about ALL automotive applications require Grade 8 (or 8.8 ). Grade 10 is very uncommon. Most bolts holding panels and fixtures are Grade 5.

i have a heap of the bolts they are M12 x 1.25 metric extra fine thread. stock bolts are equiv to grade 8.8 but depending on what ones you need they are different lengths

Radius Arms M12 x 1.25 X 100mm
Rear Shock M12 x 1.25 X 70mm(bottom), M12 x 1.25 X 60mm (top)
Front Shock M12 x 1.25 X 60mm
Panhard 2X M12 x 1.25 X 70mm

if you need any i can sell the extras i have all brand new 8.8 grade tinned (rust resistant) and come with 2 rated washers and a nyloc nut

M12 x 1.25 X 100mm $3.00 Each
M12 x 1.25 X 70mm $1.80 Each
M12 x 1.25 X 60mm $1.60 Each

Thanks all, it's definitely a 1.25 and the information Blakey posted above is spot on (size wise).

Does any have any suggestions for where to buy them from? (Aside from Blakey) I've a quick browse around online, but I'm only getting wholesale website.

How many bolts do you have Blakey?

metric extra fine bolts can sometimes be hard to find if you dont go to a fastener shop but you can try ebay they would be cheapest if they have them.

places like repco might hold them other places like tool shops and supercheap won't have metric extra fine or bunnings or places like that they usualy only have coarse or 1.5

just look up on google maps for fasteners you should find heaps of shops. most of the whole sale places if you actually go there they will sell you bolts signally. just need to watch some can be quite expensive.

and i have heaps about 3 sets for the jimny of all bolts

Just for the record M12 x 1.25 is metric EXTRA fine if you are asking for them. It is more common then 'fine' at 1.5 but don't make the mistake. As far as prices go the offer above is heaps cheaper then you'll buy 1's and 2's for walking in off the street

Are the bolt sizes the same for a 2000 jimny
As I see your talking about 2012 jimnys
On way to get a new shocker bolt to replace one I lost on weekend
And get few more to have for panhard rod and shockers

Got My new bolts washer spring washers and nyloc nuts got 2 front shocker 2 rear and 2 panhard one with washers nuts ect for $16 all up and there 8.8 grade pre cheap I was think.
Going to make a list of bolts nuts ect think will be good to have in car just in case and get few more
