Post subject:  Difference between xl7 and gv

Looking at selling my troopy (daily driver) to a smaller car
I don't mind the older gvs but 7 seats would be handy, are the xl7s a longer body and if so did they change the wheel base? Also would be looking at manual hubs a 2-3 inch lift and a bullbar as it will do a fair bit of offroad as well
Any recommendations on how hard parts mods are
Etc?
Thanks
Jamrs

Longer body
Longer doors
Different diffs
2.7v6. Still genuine Suzuki H27a. Like H25a/H20a in older gv/Vit

Yes its a longer body.. by about 33cm.. Its a Longer wheelbase which means a poorer ramp over angle..
as long as you get the X-Rox Bar you will be fine...
Parts are a pain in the rear end to get ahold of.. there are no serious offroad parts.
Dobinson offer a 40mm Lift kit..

Access to the rear seats is painful. You could fit a 14-15 year old down there but they have very little knee room and
You have next to no boot with the rear most seats up... Fold them down and the boot is quite useful..

Stepping down from a Troopy you will miss the ride height and the off road ability..
The XL-7 does OK in mud, Alright on Rocks but I highly recommend fitting a set of Bash plates for the Front Diff and Transfer case as a bit of insurance against bellying out.
FTS Makes a Snorkel to suite the XL-7 and Bash plates can be sourced through Outdoor Auto..

The XL7s are the same as a GV from the B pillar forward. All Front GV suspension and goodies fit. The rear doors and rear panels are different.

Front diff is same. Rear is different... Phisically bigger and has a different spline count.

Rear suspension layout is identicle but the rear coils are slightly different. same shocks, control arms etc.

Mods are quite easy to do using GV parts but some may require slight adjustments to work properly.

Im wrecking one at the moment and a lot of bits are interchangeable
