So after getting to the Daly river (yep the one with the massive swamp gecko's) at 2am in the morning, Me and my mate had to get to the other side where everyone else was meeting up with us. We had a look at the crossing but no way in Fk I was going to walk it. My mate drove across it a few times in his cruiser and we guaged the depth and what I was up against. So we finally took the plunge and even though the Vitara made it through without a hick up, I got to the other side and quickly flicked up my bonnet to check if everything was in it's place.
The air filter was saturated!!!!! I quickly flicked off the engine and then took the air filter apart and even though the filter was soaked there was no water in the bottom pan of the air filter assembly. I have a weber with the air filter that came with it so you have a rough idea what it looks like.
So after cleaning out my underpants I let the filter dry out, camped 2 nights and caught a few Barra then I got hold of a rope and got my mate to skull drag me back across with my air filter covered up where I proceeded to pull a troopy out of the sand
So these particular events have gotten my brain ticking over again as to getting a Snorkel.
So from Carby to Snorkel..
I would have to get a hat of some sort so that I could run that off the top of the Carby. Looked around and they all look pretty expensive. Anyone know of any cheap ones?
I want to get a filter set up that's either inline oooorrrrrr I would like more to get a filter box from another vehicle and set that up. Was thinking something bigger than a suzuki one to allow for a little more air flow. Hoping I can pick up the box from the wreckers.
Was just gonna buy a Snorkel off ebay for $200. Seems reasonable and has a cool little thing on the side saying Vitara.
Basically I would like to have this whole thing done and dusted for about $400 but less is always better. How have other people set theres up and what cost's did they incur?
