Hi Guys .
I want to lasercute some radius arms that are caster corrected to fit the origanal suzuki bushes,
I will make the drawing on cad available if there is anyone wh can help me with the dimentions and the angles relative to the old radius arms.
I was lookijng at a radius arm plan for front and rear with 3 degrees correction, i dont know if anyone would be willing to do something like that to measure up their new caster corrected radius arms?
I am willing to make any sort o deal just to get the dimentions for the design,
Thank you.

With some basic trigonometry you could calculate how much correction you need.

Are you talking about making these to sell them? Just make sure you have all your ducks in a row when it comes to liability insurance. If something goes wrong, you could lose everything you or your family own, and do some serious jail time.
FYI, they are cheaper than shit from Jimnybits and offroad armoury. Doubt you could make them cheaper.

was planning to manufacture it for my own prsonal use on my jimny and am willing to make the drawings public for any other zook owner to use on his own risk, i have no plan to make any cent just to get radius arms manufactured an as precise as possible.

someone needs to make a superior "superflex" style of radius arm for the jimny.

now that ^ would be cool jump into the superior engineering website, there are some drawings there on how those arms function... just look for the landcruiser ones, as they as us have to deal with the draglink behind the diff, so the solution is different to the patrools

Draglink is on the front.. Tie rod is on the back of jimny, cruiser and patrol as far as i've seen.

sorry, mix up the names u know what I mean and yeah after a closer look, you right, both cars are on the back.... think is more of a if you have the clearance or not do so but in a jimny dnt think there is enoguh space for it, as I remember once Zukenutter trying to built some castor corrected plates and the reason he didnt stuck with them was because it hit the tie rod

I knew what you meant. But, Patrol has the tie rod on the back... edit: yeah different clearance solutions.

Using the same bushes in the same locations with a caster adjustment is not worth it.
If a different link system could go in it would benefit greatly.

the material would be sheet metal around a yield strenth of 700 mpa, the yield strenth of normal mild steel is about 340mpa, so it can take much more strain, the applied stress should always be below the yield strength to avoid failure of the component,

Sheet metal?
Also high strength material will need to be normalised after welding.
I think you are over complicating this component a little.

My ORA arms are super HD and apart from ground clearance are perfect and pretty good value. As Bert said I made some caster plates which gave about the same correction as my ORA arms but caused some clearance issues. These issues could have been overcome with some caster bushes fitted as well but that's just all getting a bit stupidly complicated.
Give your own a go if you feel the need but I'd say just save your bucks and buy off the shelf.

hi mygyverjimny,
I am new to this forum, but i just brought a 2010 Jimny for off road playing, and it already has a broken radius arm from my son being a little over enthusiastic on his first bush bash, 2 days after buying, did you get around to making the radius arms for your Zuk? I would be interested in those drawings if possible as I am an engineer and can fabricate the arms up myself easy enough.

I've thought about this too, was going to draw them up and get them lazer cut out of 20mm plate, then weld in sleeves for the standard bushes to push into. Also run a removable pin in one bush front and rear to allow more flex when needed. Like these, only Jimny shape http://www.bigo4x4.com.au/default.asp?page=armsAt the moment I'm using Snake racing arms, there great for the factory look (ground off the writing and powder.coated them black), been pulled up a few times, the cop last time looked at them and exclaimed something about aftermarket radius arms being illegal and that it was good that I was using the right arms, then sent me on my way. There is a cool design I saw whilst in Japan, ill try and find a pick of them, they require you to cut the steel out and they go up and over the toe rod, good for Jim's with big lift, makes the arm look at a better angle

Shep, that its Japanese, 84000 yen is roughly $960. A guy on the mazda forum I'm also on brings over quite a bit of stuff in containers, I had him looking for a g16b for me for a bit but they've all pretty much gone now. The rough costs associate with buying from Japan are below, other companies such as import monster have a similar arrangement. Buying from Japan is usually pretty expensive. Quote: Costs involved in buying an item:
• The purchase price • Agent's commission - 15% or AUD$10, whichever is greater • My commission - 10% or AUD$10, whichever is greater • Postage to the agent in Japan • Freight to Australia via container, import duty, GST, and freight from me to you OR • Direct from Japan to you via EMS (Express Air) or Surface Mail (Sea)

Unless you flip them, they'll reduce clearance by a mile. They are very bulky under the axle.
Early range rover FTW.

The ORA do (at least from wht I remember of zukenutters jimny).
But havent seen the JB ones too low, more clearance than the diff they have for sure. Donno against the factory ones

zukenutter wrote: ORA have new arms now, new design to reduce the ground clearance issue This is a rear arm, still think that drawing up some like the ones above that go over the toe rod would be best, then just get them lazer cut from 20mm plate and sleeve them where the bushes go. Personally at present I'm happy with my arms, they look factory, I guess it comes down to the age old question- "how far do you want to go", different shape or arms over or different link set up, all of which stand out when being pulled over by the Po.
