any experience with Angle drive kit from Suzi Sport? customer support, shipping time, quality?

I've produced my own Angle drive kit.

Yeah I've got one on my zuk and I got it in about 4 days (I'm in Noosa) and it seems pretty strong, I find it expensive for what it is but it works great

a brand new angle drive kit is now under production, so we'll see if that's a good solution than the kit from suzisport :)

the tolerances on the kit I used were crap to say the least .....
we had to machine it down so the cam shaft gear would fit .
There were burs on the oil grooves that had to be removed .
went sweet for a few thousand kms then jammed agianst the alloy of the head and seared off the dog gear on the end of the cam shaft ......
engineer I showed it to, was appalled with the design , ie a metal shaft rotating at 3500rpm in a part of an aluminum head never designed or toleranced for it . coupled with the side loading from the dissy gears.. it's amazing there have not been more failures.
We ended up using a custom shaft that was supported by a replaceable roller bearing at each end .

Great Deisgn Work - Much improved from the SS .
How is the bronze bush lubricated? We went with a roller bearing at each end of the shaft.

I think so :)

I was thinking about making a oil groove inside the bronze bushing. Then it's going to be similar as the GTi distributor.

How did you do that? pics?

finally mounted adapter:

adapter on engine:

angle drive:

mounted in a gen 2 Swift:

everything Works, but I got no spark.

when you see the pictures below, you'll see why :/

samurai distributor:
Image

V.S

Swift gen. 2 distributor:

there are two different ignitor systems between samurai and gen. 2 Swift. But if I had a spare gen. 2 distributor, I'd just put it in the samurai disrtibutor and the problem would been solved, but I didn't want du destroy my only gen. 2 distributor.

as far as I can see, samurai and Swift gen. 1 distributor, got the same Components inside the distributor, and therefore it should work witout any problems.

unfortunately that means that I'm not able to test run my angle drive kit.

if anyone got any ideas of what I can do to test my kit, I would be really happy!!!

I'm assuming you got this to work?

He's still playing with it I think - see his FB - https://www.facebook.com/groups/491740814265833/

What we really need is an adapter to work with the Mk II and III GTI distributor.

Post subject:  Re: Angle drive kit from Suzi Sport ??

It's not the adaptor that's the problem....it's the dizzy
You either need to use an aftermarket ECU or you need to use a Vitara dizzy and remap the points

I don't see how creating a new adaptor will achieve anything unless he can put the GTi dizz in there somehow and make it work (which i'm assuming he's trying to do)

If he does get it to work....he could be making a few $$$ :)

If you get a reluctor wheel laser cut to match the mk2/3s and mount it to that dizzy shaft it will work

Post subject:  Re: Angle drive kit from Suzi Sport ??

or cut and shut the the 2 distributor shafts together
its a commen mod for hei dissys on rover V8s

Post subject:  Re: Angle drive kit from Suzi Sport ??

But isn't the issue that the Gti Dizzy turns clockwise and the Sierra (and Vit) dizzys turn anti-clockwise? The reluctor wheel could be copied in a mirror image, but the reluctor coil might not give the correct signal if reversed. (Dunno if it's a simple magnetic field pulse, or if it makes a wave form signal for the ECU.)

Post subject:  Re: Angle drive kit from Suzi Sport ??

Good point 303!

That being the case then the reluctor wheel must be flipped to retain the correct angle pulse sequence for anti clockwise rotation. If the sierra/vit pickup coil is used then the wiring with give the correct polarity to the ECU ie red to red and white to green. However, if the mk2/3 pickup coil is used the wires must be swapped to give the correct polarity to the ECU ie red to green and green to red etc

i read on the internet you just swap the inlet & exhaust manifolds over & wire the starter motor backwards. :?

The machine shop are using alot more time than I could ever imagine :(
I'll call them again this week to get some action.
Thank you for your patience !!

To get the distributor to work properly is the next case. The mk1 and samurai has the same Electrical components. Mk 2/3 is different. I gues you'll have to use the mk 2 / 3 Electrical comonents in the samurai distributor housing.

about the rotation, its something I'll have to figure out. the only problem I've got is that I don't have a running MK1 yet, so I can't test it out properly.

so if anyone could help me solve this problem, it would been great!!

I did a mechanical test, and it worked out just fine :D

I appreciate Your point of view and Your comments!

As mentioned above.....I can 100% confirm that the MK1 turns different to the MK2/3 (it had me stumped when i first tried to fire up the MK2/3 engine and was running like crap)
