Hi guys. I'm considering a 1998 V6 GV as a daily. Can anyone who has one or a similar model tell me what kind of milage they're getting with theirs? Also, the most common things to look for in one with 250k on the clock. Thanks guys Cam |

I think most people seem to be getting around 14-15L/100km. And at 250km I can almost guarantee there will be timing chain rattle. I looked at a few with that many K's and every single one of them rattled like a tin can when cold. |

In peoples opinion is the type of vehicle described worth considering. just as a hassle free daily driver? Or do the GVs tend to be a problem at this age/km range? Thanks |

Love my GV, timing chain rattle comes down to what oil filter you use. I used K&N and I didn't have a rattle, got some other oil filter in atm (can't remember brand) and it rattles a little. Heard rycos just make it shit. Pretty sure stock gv's can get around 10-11l/100kms, I get around 15l/100kms but that's running 32s and 5" lift, bullbar and towing a trailer and bikes (500kg ish) around. Mines got 254XXX on the clock, had a top end rebuild due to blown head gasket from idk what. I just service every 5000kms with new filter and full synthetic penrite oil. |

we have had our XL7 for 2 months now.. and it seems to have settled down now and gotten used to the way me and my wife drive!!!! we get around 10.3L / 100k's so it's nice. when we first got the car though we were getting 16L /100k's we havn't changed anything i suppose only thing is the different drivers sooooo!!! if anything i've attached the ODA under body protection + roof racks. but that's adding things so only thing that's changed is the drivers lol |

My fuel economy varies from 10's to high 20's depending on driving style and conditions. In winter cruising out on the Hwy at 90-100km/h with 30psi in the tyres I get low 10's. But when I was in robe fanging it about in the soft sand with the A/C on and with 7.5psi in the tyres economy was crap. 150kms from a full tank but I did have fun |

How on earth do you manage that from an XL-7? We get 14l/100km in suburban Adelaide with an '04 5spd auto running 98 octane. |

Murcod: exactly what i said.... i'm not sure why or how but when we first got the car the first two tanks of fuel was 15.7L-100. next tank we went throughw as down to 14.4L -100. ever since then i've just been watching it drop to now where our lowest was 9.8L-100. but like i said we average tank now is right around 10.3L-100. it's realy lovely but as i said i'm not sure why or how as the only thing we have done to the car is add the ODA underbody protection to the car and add roof racks! we did a trip to sydney over the holidays with 6x people in the car all our luggage and christmas presents including a roof pod on top of the car and our fuel economy over the entire trip on the way down was 11.8L-100. and on the way home it was 13.4L-100. as i have stated i'm not sure if the computer just learnt the way we drive and vallah or if it's our petrol stations we go to. it's running a standard air filter just a normal white one and holds 34PSI in all tires! (when i checked them last over the chrissy period) |

It is a bit hilly where our's gets driven- and my wife hasn't grasped the concept of backing off the accelerator and "rolling" up to red lights. The accelerator is more like an on/off switch! But even when I was driving it the economy was still the wrong side of 13l/100km. The tyre pressure is higher in ours and it's running an electric thermofan - which should improve economy. |

yeah what PSI do you run on?? and yeah that could have some thing to do with it, we're mainly well... reasonably flat'ish... we've got hills and such but we can pick flat roads to get to where we need to never really thought about that, and we've only got 3x traffic lights in out town. having said that we've got about 70 round abouts hahahaha... so rolling giveways. lol yeah our jeep when we had it had far better consumption than every one else on the jeep forums also could be our area as it's not a common place for people to actually have the same rig as me... if you don't own a GQ / GU / 80's or s 75 series... you're just not in. lol ahhhhh well love Stella and she could very well be the exception.. I'm fine and happy with that |

I run around 36PSI in the front tyres and 32-34 in the rear. Too much in the rear and it can start to want to over steer when turning right at intersections. |

I get around 12L/100km with full bar work, winch, lights, dual battery, 5in lift and muddies. Its about how you drive really. Timing chain rattle is only a problem if it hasn't been serviced regularly. I just used suzuki oil filters and liquimoly 10w40 oil tiny rattle for a few secs on cold start otherwise no problem 230on the clock |

XL-7's will naturally be more fuel hungry than a normal GV (with a bigger engine, more weight and lower gearing.) PS: Abraxix's economy is still exceptional for an XL-7. |
