I have an 03 GV i want to lift...

So far I have bought:

30mm F+R king springs

With the above components I should gain about 80mm, which I'm assuming won't be good for my CV's

So next on the shopping list would be a diff drop?

I was thinking about getting some Camira rear shocks too.
Would the stockers be able to handle a 3 inch lift?

You better start collecting CV's.


I have a very similar setup.

Front.

40mm king coils
20mm spacers
Dobinson struts
Extended bumpstops (20mm)
Cam bolts
Diff drop brackets
Manual hubs
Vitara 4.8 R&P in GV steel Diff
1510 lockright

Rear.
40mm Dobinson Coils
40mm spacers
Pajero shocks (Munroe)
40mm bump stop spacers
Panhard relocation bracket
Vitara 4.8 diff center

Ive had to make a few things myself as they were not readily available when I originally set it up.

I wouldn't worry about the strut spacers as the CVs will reach their maximum angle on down travel without them (even with the diff drop brackets.)

What size tyres are you planning to run?

Yeah, i would prefer not to use them. Sure they won't top out with the extra 80mm?
I'd like to be able to fit 31s or 32s... It has 29s on now.

So i can crush commodores with the huge bad ass 37s im going to put on it...

Haha... I just want more clearance and to be able to fit some decent sized tyres.

Be prepaired to spend a lot of time getting them to fit and even more time repairing broken Cv's. Trus me I know.

I run Dobinson lifted struts and without strut spacers the cvs are extremely close to their maximum angle. As to is the lower ball joint.
A CV is strongest when it is straight and weakest at full angle.

I've experimented with strut spacers and I could get the outer cv's to bind up before I had full droop with the wheels dead straight...... Thankfully this was discovered in the garage not out wheeling.

As for extended brake lines.... you only need the rear and any decent brake shop should be able to make and fit one for you.

Oh sh*t! I want to avoid that... Was that with the dobinson struts? and with or without diff drop brackets?

Dobinson strut with diff drops....... front end just runs out of down travel and strut spacers are just not needed.

So, I put in my 30mm king springs on the weekend. Woohoo! Also had a crack at putting in the coil spacers... I tried the front first, detached the sway bar, calipers, tie rods and struts but there was no way in hell I could get the springs in there. Do you guys reckon I might be able to get the springs and spacers in if I disconnected the diff from the chassis so the CV's can drop down, allowing the control arm to droop down more?

Get some spring compressors. I have to use them to get my 3" springs in, well I had to the first time I put them in.

Another thing too. After fitting the springs I have crazy positive camber in the front. The top strut holes already had camber bolts in, should I put some in the bottom holes as well?

3in coils and 1in spacer is possible but very much a bitch!! And say good bye to camber and castor. And by 1in space I mean an actual thickness or half an inch so if its an actual 50mm thick spacer it will only fit in the rear no chance getting that in the front! And you can put camber bolts in the bottom as well but it will do bugga all and you will always have neg camber not positive.

I was going to say the same thing - If the front spacer is physically 50mm in height, that's going equal 80mm or so of lift at the wheel. Golly.

Ahhhhh, so a half inch thickness spacer will actually equate to one inch of lift?

The ratio isn't quite 2:1, but it's close.
I'm aware of two camber bolts being used to get excessive lift into alignment. The real answer is less lift. If you have to run two camber bolts to get alignment in spec, the CV's are in pain at ride height, you'll have almost no droop, and the car will ride terribly.

Low is the new lift.

I ran king springs my 94 vitara for awhile. I than put spacers in as well. 30mm in the rear and 15mm in the front and I found it was way to stiff it wasn't nice to drive at all so literally a week later I pulled it out and 30mm spacers with the standard springs in the front and ran the king springs in the back with the 15mm spacers it did sit a little high in the front but rode so much nicer than having the kings with spacers. it was also a bitch to get the 30mm spacer in the front with the standard coil.
