I reckon 235s on stock gearing would be terrible on a manual. I'd be super worried about cooking the auto off road with a tyre that size (and the traction it brings) Steve. |

It depends on the model of jimny. New ones have different gearing to early ones. |

My m13 non vvt was horrible with stock gearing and stock tyres. Was better when I went to a 215/75r15 tire. Anything over 215's would need gearing dressed. |

There are gearing differences between models, my 2013 jimny with 30x9.5 tyres still pulled 5th gear when towing a trailer and lowrange was low enough for most wheeling, certainly significantly better then a early jimny or sierra. Gearing is always better however in my opinion it isn't as critical as with earlier models. |

My G series was alright onroad with 235s and stock gearings. Offroad with stock low range gearing and is aweful too. Their a beach car, I wouldn't buy one again. |

Stock gearing sux. 20% is great around town and great off road. Highway driving sux though - 4000rpm at 100kmph. |

G series are the easiest to work on (stick transfer/1.6 bolts in/SJ swap is easy/no ABS or airbags). Ummm, yeah hard to say, its an awesome car now, it just has so many things to fix up before its worth taking offroad. But like a sierra, if the offroad market for them opens up (unlikely due to yanks not getting them) they won't be such an uphill battle to work with. |

Haha mine is about 4100rpm @ 100kph. I mostly cruise at 4500-4600rpm, drove 700km like that on sat. I dunno what the issue is. |
