Post subject:  Turbo fuel pump options

Hi all, I have just done a custom TD04 turbo onto a G16A in an SJ80. I have used a high pressure fuel pump, but it seems its a bit big so I cant adjust the fuel reg down low enough and it's well flooding.
Need some options for an affordable fuel pump. I have access to a VN fuel pump, would that do it? Or should I look at low pressure, high flow like a Holley?

Thanks in advance

Holley Blue fuel pressure regulator.

Suziblu, I am using a malpassi fuel pressure regulator as it has to be rising rate which i dont think holley is..But I think the pump is too big and it's pushing past the regulator. It's a 044 pump which is 300lph and max 5 bar pressure, I need max 14 psi pressure.

What do you think?

I think you have answered your own question. You need one bar after the regulator, so you don't need a 5 bar pump. What may be happening is that the fuel return pipe can't cope with the flow rate and that is what is stopping the regulator working properly. When I converted to EFI I had to upgrade the return pipe to a larger diameter because I overspec'ed the fuel pump.

Yer an 044 is enormous. I had an 044 pushing past a standard 4age fpr.

I'd suggest you find out exactly how much fuel you need and then check out the Bosch fuel pump tech data and pick one that suits. An easy way to guestimate is to calculate how much your injectors flow at 100% duty cycle, double it and see if there is a Bosch pump to suit.

Thanks guys. Non EFI though, I turboed a G16A ie carby blow through. Given that it only needs 4 psi + boost. I will try the larger return line to see if that stops the FPR running too high and fludding past the float.
Let's see if the larger allowance helps

Oh sorry I didn't see it wasn't efi.
