Post subject:  1992 Vitara Battery question

Hi
Just picked up a 1992 Vitara JLX wagon and need a battery so looked up the Century website and it recommends the NS40Z but total height from bottom to top of terminals is 220mm and look too tall for the spot like the terminals themselves are inside the bonnet space.

Is that normal? surely not?

An NS60 looks like it'll also fit but again, same height as the NS40Z

The one that came out was some odd brand that was called an MF-N43 and had the terminals on the wrong side but appears to have gotten away with it because it has a total height of 200 mm.

Are there any other options like a battery with recessed terminals?

NS40Z is the right size. It has to be around a certain orientation for the terminals to clear the bonnet bracing. Even then it's worth making sure it's well tied down and there is something non-conductive between the terminals and the bonnet.

wound up fitting an NS60S, same height, width, it's longer but still a good fit.
