Hi everyone my name is Jacques and I live in South Africa and this is my first post here, please be gentle. We have a 4x4 Forum called 4x4 Community in South Africa, you can visit it here if you like http://4x4community.co.za/forum/ I have a Suzuki Samurai LWB and would really like to install a 1.9 TD engine it as many of you here has already done. Problem is that if I try and import the ACME adapter kit it will cost me almost a fortune with our high import taxes etc. So I was wondering if someone could just send me a PDF copy or scan me in the ACME Adapter Instructions that you got with your kits so that I can see if I can actually get the parts needed to do the swap like the specific radiator suggested etc. I should be able to have the adapter plate & engine mountings made here in South Africa. I will post a few photos of my Samurai shortly. Thank you in advance Kind regards Jacques |

But I have seen the 1.9 TD conversion in the flesh, done into a Maruti Suzuki ute. The guy chased a couple of problems (bad driveline vibes & difficult to start could and VERY smokey and rough) He had the engine rebuilt and injectors done trying to find the problem with the rough starting and running. Turns out it had to be turned off of a "cold start" mode for very low temperatures. Gearing wise he ran a stock transfer on 31's, and may have swapped the other parts of the running gear to 1.3 litre spec (car was a 1.0) On road it went like a scalded cat. Off road gearing would have been awful. I think the last thing on his mind was taking it in the bush, and the conversion was more done just to have a diesel in a sierra. You'd have to do a lot of driving for this to become economical IMO if thats why the diesel is going in. |

Yeah thats what n need is more economy. And for the engine not to stall on a modarite inclune like it does now with the standard carb engine. The economy of the diesel would make it possible to go to Botwana and those places with my Samurai without having to take like a 80 litres of extra fuel that takes up preciohs cargo space on a trip like that (samurais aint the biggest vehicles) and petrol stations are wide apart up there in the wilderness and between the wildlife. Thanks for the info. Regards Jacques. |
