did a search, couldnt find anything similar to the possible issue i have now, installed a rear diff, all new bearings, tensions and backlash all set correctly, locker was a relatively tight fit, no hammers or anything crazy needed though now, my issue is i have a small amount of "free play" in the axle area, so when i lift both wheels off the ground, or even one of either side, theres a bit of free movement before it catches the locker and starts to move the shaft and other wheel/unlock the other wheel. basically look at the wheel as a clock, i can move from 12 to 1 and back freely. im assuming its between the locker and the side gear. anyone else seen this before? cheers, cal |

I have to give mine a bit of a shove before it will lock them both together. |

Yeah thats normal. Its the locker going from forward drive side to the reverse drive side of its operation. |

Aah sweet. Seemed a bit strange when i could turn the driveshaft when i got under as if its backlash was out. Needed an oil change anywho so thats all good to do now |

You can feel the back lash by lightly rocking the shaft back and forth. It's a just an auto locker thing. They're rough. I like them though, cheap and simple. |

Yea thats what i liked, at first i wasnt sure about it as it was harsh, but now its bedded in a bit, its quiet easy going with an occasional bind up. Just have to drive to the conditions. Ill keep my wrx as the speed machine haha |
